Decreased Practice Overhead

As seen in the March 2000 edition of the AAOMS Newsletter: Practice Management Notes

Overhead costs decrease further when a web site is implemented for many reasons:

  • Pre and Post-operative instructions are posted online for patients to print out in case they lose the copies they were given at the office.

  • Automation of appointment scheduling minimizes front desk telephone correspondence.

  • Internet mapping enables the patient to retrieve immediate directions to the practice without having to call the surgeon’s staff.

  • Staff utilization of email may increase patient satisfaction while eliminating many unnecessary calls between the practice and the patient.

  • As stated earlier, the practice is able to download the online patient registration and prepare the chart prior to the patient coming into the office, eliminating wait time and facilitating the visit.

When combined with the ability to purchase goods and services online, all of these attributes will strongly contribute to lowering the total overhead within the practice and decrease your per unit patient cost. < back | next >
