Most likely it's due to a server update we did that requires a change in your domain settings. We made this change for the clients whose domains we manage and emailed the instructions on what to change to all clients whose domains we don't manage. You'll need to log in to your account and change your domain name settings to our new ones, which are ns1.pbhshost.com and ns2.pbhshost.com.
Because PBHS is upgrading & changing the server we use to host your website. So your settings on your domain need to change to reference the new server.
Your website will go down.
DNS means Domain Name Servers. The Domain Name Server settings tell the internet which server is hosting your website. Currently your nameservers are most likely set to ns.rackspace.com and ns2.rackspace.com, which are our old PBHS servers and they need to be changed to new PBHS servers: ns1.pbhshost.com and ns2.pbhshost.com.
Website hosting and domain management are two different things. PBHS is hosting your website, which means the service of posting your website on the internet for everyone to see. PBHS is NOT managing your domain name, which means renewing it, keeping the contact data up to date, and changing name servers when necessary. Since we are not managing your domain, we do not have the access to change the DNS settings. Your domain is registered in your own account to manage. We do not have your username and password to your account.
Wrong, we want to move away from rackspace. That’s why the name servers need to have rackspace removed and pbhshost entered.
Go to http://centralops.net/co/ and type in your domain in that first box under Domain Dossier. Click Go. Under Domain Whois Record, you’ll see “Registrar:” This company is the one where your domain is registered and where you’ll need to go to change your settings on your domain. Scroll down a little more, and you’ll see Registrant, Administrative Contact, and Technical Contact. At least one of those people listed should have your username and password to log in to the “Registrar” company. If not, call the “Registrar” company and tell them you want to change your name servers to the new ones (ns1.pbhshost.com and ns2.pbhshost.com). *Note: the person listed as one of those Registrant, Administrative, or Technical Contacts will probably have to call.
Yes, send help@pbhs.com the username and password to the company where you registered your domain.
Go to http://centralops.net/co/ and type in your domain in that first box under Domain Dossier. Click Go. Under “Addresses” if the numbers are: 64.142.54.188, then you don’t have to do anything. If it’s 72.3.176.105, then you’ll need to change the A Record. In most cases, you can log in to where your domain is registered, click in Advanced DNS Settings, and edit the one that has the old IP address. Or give to your IT guy. Or send help@pbhs.com the username and password to the company where you registered your domain.
